Everyone wants a space in their home where they can relax after a hard week at work. Maybe you are in to cuddling up with a good book, or you might just want to catch up on your favorite shows you’ve missed. Either way, a comfy, cozy space is essential if you really want to relax.
If you have a space in your home that you think needs a few more touches, look no further. Below you’ll find great ideas that will make your space feel just a little more special.
Sentimental Items – Some people tend to pack away their sentimental items, but you really should keep them on display. These are the items you love the most, so you should find a way to hang your favorite photos and pieces of art. Little knick knacks you have picked up on vacations are also good to display, as they help you remember the good times you had while you were there.
Fresh Flowers – Since spring is coming up, it would be a good idea to pick up some fresh flowers to display in your home. Flowers can really warm up a space and put people in a great mood. Flowers that match your décor can really tie a room together.
But if you are reading this and thinking, but I don’t have a green thumb. No worries! You can get extremely realistic fake flowers at a craft store. No more watering!
Your Favorites – Since you’ll be spending a lot of time in this space, especially on the weekend, you will want to see some of your favorite things. For example, you can put your favorite books out on display to read, as they can double as a cute decoration. To also make the space feel more “homey”, add framed photos of your family and friends. Seeing the faces of people you love can make this space, your favorite space.
The Comfy Stuff – Keep a blanket out to lie on the arm of the sofa or at the foot of the bed. Make sure you also keep extra blankets on hand for the times where it gets really cold or you have some company. Fluffy pillows are also essential to make any space just a little homier. Soft, fluffy, neutral, bright - it doesn’t matter, a pillow is a pillow! You can also add a rug to the floor to make the room feel welcoming as well as keep your feet from getting cold!
The Edibles – A home that smells of good food is the best kind of home. Brewing a fresh pot of coffee right when you wake up and throughout the day will leave your house smelling scrumptious! A personal favorite of the Housing Buzz Team is the smell of fresh chocolate chip cookies.
Although they are not edible, lighting candles can also bring a great smell to the space, but be careful if you have small children. If you don’t like to bake, light a sugar cookie candle. Shhh, we won’t tell anyone!
Remember, the best way to instantly turn a space from dull and boring to a space that comforts you is to add the things you love the most. Whatever you love, put it on display or use it, just make some time for it. Put your personal stamp on it.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Housing Buzz team.
