How Cities Celebrate the 4th Around the U.S.

Happy July 4th!

Since the 4th of July has been significant since 1776, it is a day full of history and traditions. Many people celebrate with concerts, parades, fairs, and anything else that will show off their American pride. But most importantly, this is a day filled with family, food, and fireworks.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

To celebrate in Florida, Fort Lauderdale has a free event. It consists of live bands, beach games and contests, kid’s activities, and family fun. People never want to miss out on the hot dog and pie eating contests. As always, the night ends with a huge firework display. 

Columbus, Ohio.

Columbus hosts Ohio’s largest firework display during the Red, White and Boom festival.  The celebration starts off with a parade, which attracts over 100,000 spectators each year. Many interactive kid’s activities are available, such as, blow ups and bounce houses, obstacle courses, face painting and a variety of other kid’s games. Streets are filled with food from Columbus’ best restaurants. The day is spent listening to live music and entertainment and ends with a firework display you cannot miss.

South Lake Tahoe, California.

The beach is a popular spot for families to barbeque and picnic and the lake puts on dinner cruises with food and entertainment. Although you are able to see some of the country’s best fireworks all over town, viewing them over the lake is spectacular. Even though there aren’t many scheduled activities, a day at the lake with family and friends is a day well spent.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

America’s birthplace is a great way to spend America’s birthday. This is a great place to get a culturally rich experience. The city is filled with concerts, performances, food, and activities. There are tours and ways to learn and dive into the city’s history with the special day. The streets are packed with people all showing their pride for the land they love. The day ends with a firework display that can be viewed from all the surrounding parks.

Boston, Massachusetts.

Over a 4 day period, Boston hosts the country’s largest 4th of July festival. The celebration is kicked off with an opening ceremony which includes a fest, the 215th Army Band, speeches and cake. Throughout the celebration there is live entertainment, movies, art appreciation, decorations, tons of food, sailing and boating, history walks, and multiple firework shows. These festivities are filled with rich history and plenty of activities to celebrate the nation.
