Halloween has come and gone and we finally reached the second- to-last month of the year. It seems this year is flying by, but we still have much to look forward to before 2016 begins. Up next: Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a time to get together with family and give thanks for everything we have. However, it can also be a stressful time of year, especially if you plan on hosting dinner at your home. Planning a Thanksgiving dinner requires a great deal of time and effort, which means now is the time to begin preparing. Here are a couple early reminders to ensure your Thanksgiving dinner goes as smoothly as possible:
- With Thanksgiving only being three weeks away, now is the time to get a final headcount of who all is coming. Knowing exactly how many people are attending will help you plan how many people you need to accommodate. Also, knowing how many people are planning to come will help you decide how much food to prepare.
- Once you finalize who is going to be there, you can begin to plan the menu. Order the turkey as soon as possible so you don’t have to worry about scrambling when it comes time. In addition, don’t forget to delegate some of the side dishes. You can’t do it all on your own so let others help you.
- Start taking advantage of any grocery store sales or special offers. Since we still have a little time before the mad rush begins, many supermarkets may have good deals on Thanksgiving dishes. If you can purchase some of the ingredients now it will save you time and money when we get closer.
Following these three guidelines will pay off greatly once Thanksgiving Day arrives. It will allow you to spend more time cooking the turkey and less time worrying about some of the other side dishes. We want you to spend more time with family and less time stressing about preparing the feast this year.
