Every year there are more and more homes sold on the market. The market may change but that doesn’t change the fact that people still need a place to live. Finding a great, comfortable home that checks all the items off your wish list is a home worth fighting for.
If you are a homebuyer or you plan to be in the market soon, prepare yourself for your journey to finding your dream home. Realistically, you may look at twenty to thirty homes before making a purchasing decision. Although there are no rules when it comes to the process of searching for a home, there are a few tell-tale signs you have found your dream home:
It hits every point on your list
For most people, buying a home is the biggest financial decision they will ever make, so it makes sense to approach the purchase of a home with a list of requirements. A lot of common things on a homebuyer’s wish list include: a second bathroom, a finished basement or a large, landscaped backyard. When you find a home that hits every point on your list, you know you are on track to getting your dream home.
You already feel like the home is yours
When you first walk into your dream home, there is a familiar and comfortable feeling coming over you. You may find yourself worrying someone else will purchase your home before you. If you feel a sense of possession immediately, you have found your dream home.
You think about your future in the home
Humans have the ability to look at something as simple as a room in a home and imagine or visualize their future. People start to think about how they are going to decorate and how their possessions are going to live in the space. If you find yourself walking from room to room, imagining what your life may look like five or ten years down the line, this could be the one! A dream home is not just a place to live, it is a place where you will establish a future.
You talk about the home with your family and friends
Finding your dream home is a magical experience and it is only natural that you would want to share it with your family and friends. You want to talk about all of the aspects and beautiful architectural features of the property while avoiding anything negative that may arise. If this is true, you have found your dream home and the home you will purchase.
You stop looking at other homes
It doesn’t matter if you have seen two or fifty-two homes, you stop scheduling new house showings with your Realtor when you think you have found the home you want to purchase. Once you have found “the one” you will want to do nothing but fill out all the necessary paperwork and start moving toward making an offer. At this point, you have fallen head-over-heels in love with this home and nothing is going to change your mind.
